Britney Spears is making it clear she supports the #FreeBritney movement and doesn’t want her father controlling her life anymore. In fact, she doesn’t want details of her conservatorship to remain a secret anymore.
In new court documents, Britney’s lawyers argue against sealing parts of the conservatorship case, insisting there’s no need to keep details secret because there are no medical or sensitive issues to protect. In addition, Britney opposes her father Jamie’s attempt to appoint a lawyer, who’s been working with her father for years, as a co-conservator. Instead, she wants someone independent of her father in charge.
“Britney herself is vehemently opposed to this effort by her father to keep her legal struggle hidden away in the closet as a family secret,” the documents read. Referring to #FreeBritney, they note it’s “far from being a conspiracy theory or a ‘joke’ as James [Jamie] reportedly told the media.”
The docs add Britney “welcomes and appreciates the informed support of her many fans.”
