Prince William and Kate Middleton just wrapped up the first day of their ongoing Royal Train tour yesterday. The couple will travel 1,250 miles, stopping in towns and cities in England, Scotland and Wales – and apparently, sleeping in separate beds.
Will and Kate’s “palace on wheels” – which you can see pics of HERE – has nine separate carriages, originally decorated by Queen Victoria in 23-carat gold paint, silks and satins to resemble Buckingham Palace. Will and Kate’s suite has “his and hers” single beds, which is why they’re sleeping separately, along with a private bathtub and 12-seat dining room right on board.
William gave a speech at their stop in Manchester, saying how “important” they felt it was to visit some of the “heroes that have emerged this year.” “Whether that’s transport workers, paramedics, school teachers or indeed staff and volunteers,” he said. “You are the people that have not only kept our country going but have also helped warm all our hearts by showing us the very best of human nature.”
