The town of Owega in upstate New York was one of the harder-hit areas in the recent snowstorm that brought over 40 inches of snow. Kevin Kresen was driving through all of this when his car ran off the road. Then came the real horror. While stuck in the snow, a snowplow drove by not realizing anyone was still in the car. Kresen was suddenly buried under four feet of snow and trapped.
He made a series of 911 calls trying to get help but no help came. It wasn’t until the next morning that police Sgt. Jason Cawley asked dispatchers if any emergency calls still needed addressing. They mentioned the multiple calls from Kresen, noting that law enforcement had searched the area the calls appeared to originate from but came up empty.
That’s when Cawley went to take a look for himself, pulling over when he saw what he thought were mailboxes peeking out from under the snow. He started digging hoping to at least find an address to identify where he was when he hit the windshield of a car. Inside was Kresen who had been stuck for 10 hours with no heat. Kresen was taken to a hospital, where he was found to be suffering from frostbite and hypothermia. But he’s going to be okay.
