There are few things cuter than dressing your baby up in adorable outfits. But one Illinois mom? She’s putting more thought into the cute clothes she puts her daughter in, dressing the child up as inspiring women as a way to “pay tribute to them.”
Chicago hairstylist Jenelle Wexler has been dressing her daughter, Liberty, up in inspiring outfits since she was just three-weeks old. She started by putting her in an outfit to pay tribute to artist Frida Khalo, and since then has made 147 different costumes for Liberty, all based on strong and “inspirational” women.
Other costumes include Princess Diana, climate activist Greta Thunberg, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Vice President Kamala Harris, Mother Teresa and even Cher and Billie Eilish, with Jenelle sharing the pics on her Instagram feed, which now has over 13, 000 followers.
- “After dressing up Liberty like Frida, I began thinking of other influential women who should be celebrated for their contributions to the world and the ideas just kept coming,” Jenelle shares. “I wanted to bring attention to these women’s specific stories to show how important their actions were in helping to shape our current society for the better.” She adds, “I only hope these are the individuals that Liberty herself chooses to admire and aspire to be like.”
